About Us

Established in 2012, the Canada Society of Agricultural Appraisers (CSAA) is a self-regulated designating body. The CSAA is made up of three divisions; Equine Appraisers, Livestock Appraisers, and Farm Equipment Appraisers.

CSAA holds their members to one of the highest standards in the field of appraising: the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP). These standards regulate not only the appraisal methodology, but also the business practice and conduct of our members. USPAP provides guidelines that ensure a consumer receives only the highest quality report from CSAA members.

CSAA Goals

Real Estate, or Real Property Appraisers are required to go through a rigorous training and certification program before they are allowed to perform appraisals for banks, mortgage loans and so on. Many consumers are unaware that Personal Property Appraisers, which includes equine, livestock and farm equipment appraisers, have no set standards or regulations for performing personal property appraisals. Personal Property Appraisers are encouraged to follow the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), but it is not mandatory.

CSAA's goal is to ensure that all equine, livestock and farm equipment appraisers are well-educated in regards to the appraisal industry and how appraisals are performed. As well, we hold our appraisers to a high standard and require they conduct themselves in a professional and ethical manner, following all USPAP Ethics Rules and the CSAA Code of Conduct.
