CSAA Code of Conduct
- Canadian Society of Agricultural Appraisers (CSAA) members must recognize that they are in a position of public trust and are obligated to be objective and unbiased in their opinions, conclusions and recommendations.
- CSAA members must not offer their opinions, conclusions and recommendations until all pertinent facts have been gathered and thoroughly reviewed.
- CSAA members are required to comply with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), with emphasis on the Ethics Rule, which includes conduct, management and confidentiality.
- CSAA members are also required to strictly adhere to the USPAP Competency Rule, which includes possessing competency prior to accepting an assignment, using appropriate methods for obtaining competency during an assignment and having the knowledge and experience to competently complete an assignment.
- All appraisal assignments must include:
- the client and any other intended users
- intended use
- type and definition of value
- effective date of the opinion
- relevant personal property characteristics
- assignment conditions
- certification page signed by the appraiser(s)
- CSAA members must not accept compensation for developing a predetermined opinion of value or an opinion of value that favors the cause of the client.
- CSAA members agree to conduct themselves in a manner that is not detrimental to the public, the CSAA, its members, or the agricultural appraisal profession.
- CSAA members are required to complete a USPAP course every two years.
- CSSA members are required to obtain Errors & Omission insurance with a minimum of $1,000,000 liability coverage and provide proof of insurance to CSAA annually.
- Any CSAA member found guilty of cruelty to an animal or to have killed, abandoned, mistreated, neglected or otherwise abused an animal, by an administrative agency, body, humane society or court of law, whether such court or tribunal is civil, criminal or administrative may have their license(s) revoked.
- Any CSAA member found guilty, by the CSAA Board of Directors, of not following USPAP standards or in direct violation of the USPAP Ethics or Competency Rules may have their license(s) revoked.
